Kingdom Business Leaders: Schedule a Meeting with God

by Benson Agbortogo  - September 18, 2026

Kingdom business leaders regularly schedule meetings with employees, clients, partners, and advisors. Important meetings are placed on the calendar, given a clear agenda, and protected from distractions.

But what about meeting with the One who owns the business?

If God is truly the ultimate Owner and we are stewards of His business, meeting with Him should be our most important leadership meeting of the day.

Put Your Meeting with God on the Calendar

Do not leave your meeting with God to chance. Set a specific daily time, place it on your calendar, and treat it like a protected appointment.

Your calendar reveals what you value. When you schedule a meeting with God, you are declaring that His presence, wisdom, and direction are essential to the business.

This meeting does not have to be complicated. You can use a simple three-part agenda called the Prayer Sandwich:

The Daily Prayer Sandwich Agenda

1. Start with Thanksgiving and Praise

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”— Psalm 100:4 KJV

Begin the meeting by thanking God for who He is and what He has already done.

Thank Him for the business, employees, clients, opportunities, challenges, lessons, and results He has entrusted to you. Praise shifts your attention away from the size of the problem and toward the greatness of God.

Thanksgiving prepares your heart to receive His direction.

2. Ask a Question and Listen

“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.”

— Matthew 7:7 KJV

Bring a specific business question to God.

You might ask:

  • Lord, what should I focus on today?
  • What is the real cause of this problem?
  • Which opportunity should I pursue?
  • What should I stop doing?
  • Who should I contact?
  • How should I serve this client?
  • What system should we build or improve?
  • What decision will produce the greatest Kingdom impact?

After asking, become quiet and listen.

Do not rush to fill the silence. Write down the thoughts, Scriptures, instructions, questions, or names that come to you. Then test what you believe you heard against the Word of God. God’s direction will never contradict His written Word.

Prayer is not only speaking to God. It is also creating space to receive His wisdom and direction.

3. End with Thanksgiving and Praise

Conclude the meeting by thanking God again.

Thank Him for hearing you. Thank Him for the wisdom and direction you received. Even if the complete answer is not yet clear, praise Him because you trust His character, timing, and leadership.

“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.”— Psalm 100:4 KJV

Starting and ending with thanksgiving keeps the meeting centered on God instead of the problem.

Implement the Answer

The meeting is not complete when the prayer ends. It is complete when you act on the instruction received.

If God gives you a person to call, make the call.

If He reveals a conversation you need to have, schedule it.

If He shows you a system to build, create a time budget and begin building it.

If He tells you to wait, resist the pressure to move prematurely.

If He corrects your direction, change course.

Revelation must lead to implementation. Hearing without obeying does not produce the intended result.

Track the Results

Keep a simple Meeting with God Journal. After each meeting, record:

  • Date and meeting time
  • Question asked
  • Answer or instruction received
  • Action to implement
  • Time budget for implementation
  • Result produced
  • Lesson learned

Tracking creates a record of God’s faithfulness and helps you recognize how His wisdom produces measurable results over time.

You may begin to see patterns: decisions that prevented losses, relationships that opened doors, systems that improved profit, or instructions that brought peace and clarity.

The goal is not to reduce your relationship with God to a business formula. The goal is to become a faithful steward who consistently seeks, hears, obeys, and measures the fruit.

Make Meeting with God Your First Leadership System

Kingdom business leadership begins with alignment before activity.

Before meeting with your team, meet with God.

Before asking others for answers, ask God.

Before investing time, seek His direction.

Then obey what you receive and track the results.

Schedule your daily meeting with God. Use the Prayer Sandwich agenda:

  1. Start with thanksgiving and praise.
  2. Ask a question and listen.
  3. End with thanksgiving and praise.
  4. Implement the answer received.
  5. Track the results.

When Kingdom business leaders consistently meet with God, they stop leading by pressure alone and begin leading from His presence, wisdom, and direction.

Schedule the meeting. Ask the question. Listen for direction. Obey the answer. Track the fruit.
